Nicole Kidman was born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, but grew up in Sydney, Australia. She is the Daughter of David Kidman and Janelle Ann. While her father was a biochemist, clinical psychologist, and author, her mother was a nursing instructor. She has a younger sister named Antonio Kidman. while her Australian parents were temporarily in the United States on educational visas. Kidman returned with her parents to Australia at the age of four. She attended Lane Cove Public School, post which she was enrolled at the North Sydney Girls’ High School. Nicole Kidman is one of Hollywood’s most beautiful and well-regarded leading female stars. At age 4 she moved with her parents to Sydney, Australia. At 16 Nicole dropped out of High School to pursue her love of acting and in 1983 appeared in the Australian holiday show Bush Christmas. After her first role, Nicole appeared in more Australian series such as BMXBandits, also in 1983. By the end of 1983, she had a supporting role in the television series Five Mile Creek. In 1984, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, which caused Kidman to halt her acting to work temporarily while she studied massage so she could help her mother with physical therapy. She next moved on to star alongside her then-boyfriend and future husband, Tom Cruise, in the 1990 auto racing film Days of Thunder, as a young doctor who falls in love with a NASCAR driver. It is Kidman’s American debut and was among the highest-grossing films of the year.
Her U.S. breakthrough came with Dead Calm (1989), and success followed with Billy Bathgate (1991), To Die For (1995), Practical Magic (1998), and Eyes Wide Shut (1999), in which she co-starred with husband Tom Cruise. She and Cruise divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. They had adopted two children, Isabella and Connor, during their relationship. Other than films, Kidman has been a regular feature at advertisements. She was the face of the Chanel No. 5 perfume brand. Her three-minute appearance in Channel No. 5 made Kidman the record holder for the most money paid per minute to an actor at US$12million.
