Meena was born on 16 September 1976 to Tamil father Durairaj And Raj Mallika who is an Malayalam. Meena was completed her schooling from Vidyodhya School in Chennai, India. She loves acting when she was just a child, She leave school because of her busy acting schedule when she was in 8th class but later Meena takes coaching in a private center and completed her 10th class exams from Vidyodaya School in Chennai. Later she also done her graduation degree from University Of Madras in 2006. Meena is a well known trained Bharathanatyam dancer and one of the most famous and talented actress in South Indian film industry. Meena also known more then six diffrent languages. Meena started acting when she was a child and got her first appearence in famous movie called Nenjangal. Later her mother tried to work on her career and brought her to Ratnam office where she got several offers to perform in the movies.

She made her Tamil debut in Oru Pudhiya Kadhiya and played as a lead role in the film. Later she made her debut in Malayalam movie Santhwanam that was directed by Sibi Malayil and was released in 1991.
