She is the third child of Robert VanCamp who worked as Animal Nutritionist and Cindy. She done her starting studies from Stingel Primary Elementary School and then decided to finish her Bachelor of Arts studies from Alberta University that situated in Edmonton. Emily made her mind to become an actress after watching her sister acting during a stage show. VanCamp give her first audition for an horror television show called Are You Afraid of The Dark? that started in 2000, her second chance came with Radio Active show later that year. Emily got her major role with a drama film named Lost and Delirious as Allison Moller directed by Léa Pool in 2001.
